This past weekend my family and I attended Lights in the Night in Grand Rapids, MI. It was an entry in ArtPrize, the world’s largest art competition. People filled the city and art covered it. It is a spectacular time for businesses, artisans and everyone in the community.
I wanted to share this experience with you as best I could, but you just had to be there. Some say there were five thousand floating lanterns, others twenty thousand.
I don’t get the chance to stop often and “smell the roses”, but that night I did. I felt like a child again. I was filled with wonder.
Cheers,
Bob
What a magical sight! Thanks for sharing with us.
Indeed it was. I was in awe. The city has a great atmosphere right now.
Gorgeous! I love looking up at the stars in the sky, so I can’t imagine the feeling I would have at seeing those floating lanterns.
My daughter loves tangled so she was grinning ear to ear. Until one of them nearly landed on us! It was unbelievable though.
Holy cats, I cannot believe I missed that! If the do it next year, let us know and we’ll come up to see. And then we can take Mosey and his family and go eat someplace. 🙂
Sounds great! I hope they do it again next year. Though there were times when you were looking up at the beauty then screams broke out as a cluster of burning lanterns brushed past your head. I didn’t hear about any casualties although I would not be surprised if a few restaurant awnings went up in flames.
